As a fifty-something baby boomer, grasping tightly to my "inner flower child", I have, over the past several years, embraced the benefits of minimally invasive facial esthetics, such as Botox and dermal fillers, to gently resist the typical signs of facial aging. As recently as five years ago, these techniques were primarily provided at the offices of cosmetic surgeons or dermatologists and the "medi-spa" concept was still new. Having always been an active partner in my own health care and one to carefully research the background and experience of my medical providers, it was important to me to receive my Botox, Restyln and Juvederm injections only from individuals with medical credentials specific to facial enhancement and sculpting, thus until just last year, I would only receive these injections from my opthomologist, who was also a board certified plastic surgeon.

The question is: if 100 artists were taught a new artistic technique, would all 100 finished pieces of artwork be equally beautiful? Wouldn't some of the artists have more talent and skill than others? It is my sincere belief that the administration of medical esthetic services is an artform with results varying, depending on the skill and talent of one's provider.

Upon my first appointment with Chrystal, during which I received some Botox injections as well as the facial filler, Juvederm, I became wholeheartedly convinced that ones' results are, absolutely, based on the skill and talent of the practioner (as in any medical procedure). Rather than only to smooth the furrow in my brow, from Chrystal, I learned that carefully placed in the two platysmal bands of my neck, Botox would completely erase those first signs of again in my neck! As well, when I asked about some Juvederm for my "frown lines", Chrystal shared that a little Botox on either side of my mouth would gently lift the corners of my mouth, thus much less, or even perhaps no filler might be needed, thus keeping my costs down. As a Faculty Trainer for Allergan, the maker of Botox and Juvederm, Chrystal is able to provide her patients with cutting edge techniques in the most extremely skilled way, using the most minimally invasive, cost effective options to gently erase the typical signs of aging. What a treasure I have found in Chrystal Fernandez,RN for this very special area of my "wellness care".
